The History of Indian Ford Fire And Rescue

In 1977 the area known as Genery's Gap Alabama had no fire protection. Neighboring cities could be called, but often they would arrive to late to be of any help. The people of this area formed the volunteer fire department in hopes of ending the dependance on thier neighbors. From storing an engine in a members barn, to the station it is housed in now, this department has come a long way. The department operates on dues collected from homeowners in the area. In 1977, about 315 homes were covered by this department. In 2006, that number had grown to almost 1800 homes and is growing every day.
